Burnout Management

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands

what is burnout?

Burnout has been recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a “work-related stress resulting in physical and emotional exhaustion that can result in reduced accomplishments and loss of personal identity”.

What we know is that burnout affects more people than we ever thought before. Burnout affects Men, Women and Children (yes, even Kids get burnt out!). Front Line workers are at an especially high risk of burnout due to vicarious trauma.

My passion is meeting you wherever you are and supporting you in finding your groove again. We all have times in our lives where it feels like we have gone off track and there is no shame in getting support to help get you back on your feet.

If you are looking to find a comforting, neutral, non-judgemental space to navigate your life and get back on track effectively and efficiently, I’m here.

Substance Abuse and Burnout

Many people use having a glass of wine or a beer to “relax” as a coping tool to unwind after a stressful day.  You may find yourself reaching for other substances to distract you from facing the reality that you are burning out.  The hard truth is it’s a coping tool you are using to numb your feelings, so you don’t have to face the truth, but your reality is still present and waiting for you once you get sober.  In order to tackle burnout, you need to be able to think clearly and be in a space where you can be honest with yourself.  In these particular cases, working with an addictions program, counselor, and family doctor is the best first step.  Once you have a handle on your sobriety working with a burnout coach will help you develop tools to prevent future burnout.  Please feel free to reach out to me for support and community referrals, you are not alone.

Mental Illness and Burnout

Mental illness has increased in awareness over the past decade.  It is no longer a dirty little secret we keep to ourselves but rather talk about with our friends and family to gain support and understanding.  Mental Illness is far more common than we ever had knowledge of before and there are many reasons for this.  What we know is that mental illness can affect us all and can be an underlying condition.  If you have the smallest inkling that you could be suffering with a mental illness, please make an appointment with a health care professional.  If you would like to reach out to me for support, I will provide you with some community referrals.  Let’s end the stigma!
